Bir has the world’s second best paragliding launch site in the world (after Lake Como, Italy), and the best for paragliding in India, at Billing, a valley 14 kms north to Bir. Every year over hundreds of professional pilots from different countries come to Bir to participate in this adventurous activity which is one of the strongest tours in India. Back in 2015, The Paragliding World Cup got underway from the billing paragliding site, Union Minister of Civil Aviation P. Gajapati Raju flagged off pilots. A total of 130 pilots representing more than 37 countries took part in the World Cup. For the first time GPS-aided GEO augmented navigation (GAGAN), an India SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) Program jointly developed by the India Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the AAI were used for live tracking of the pilots.
